YOUR DAY HERE

Your typical day at the studio would possibly begin around 10am.

Help yourself to free tea or coffee! If you are a band with live drums we recommend that the drummer arrives first as recording live drums can take a while to set up. Once the drums are up and miked everyone else sets up their instruments, at this stage all Instruments are direct injected into the system and recorded as guide tracks so that we have total separation for the mixing stage.

Once the drum tracks are recorded and you are happy with the performance, then each member would replace their parts with the real take. We like to mike guitar and bass amps to capture the sound which keeps that live feel !

If there are keyboards we always record in audio for guide and midi for final use as midi is very versatile in correcting those mistakes that you think will not happen.

Vocals are normally last on the list. Having all the instruments laid down can give the vocalist more feel for the track.

Mixing is always carried out at a separate time so our ears are fresh to evaluate the work better. Attendance by the client for mixing is optional but we would recommend only one person to be there who can be more objective about the track as a unit and not be biased by listening to their own performance.

This is only a guide as there are many different combinations of band set ups. The main thing is to enjoy your time recording which will yield a better result !
